The Oak story began in 2011 when husband and wife team Richard and Tiffanee Ellman had a vision of bringing a beautiful and differentiated fine dining concept to the DFW landscape. Oak was the first elevated dining concept to launch in the Dallas Design District neighborhood and opened to national acclaim. During its first full year of operation, D Magazine named it The Best New Restaurant in Dallas, The Dallas Morning News awarded it as one of the Best Restaurants in Dallas, and Bon Appetit named the restaurant to its annual “Top 50 Best New Restaurants” list. In 2018, Oak earned Wine Spectator's 2018 Award of Excellence
Nestled in the gateway to the Design District and set in the shadow of its namesake, Oak is a contemporary culinary experience set in a comfortable, modern design. Simply elegant cuisine, thoughtfully crafted cocktails and a worldly yet approachable wine list gives guests the pleasure to imbibe and indulge in an intimate dining experience.
Oak's innovative creations are a celebration of global experiences merged with classically trained technique. We host our guests nightly in our chic "living room" and constantly challenge culinary boundaries with robust, provocative cuisine. Our menu is always evolving and stays as seasonal as possible.
Since 2011, The Ellmans have expanded their love of hospitality to create Apheleia Restaurant Group (ARG) which owns and operates some of Dallas’ most popular, stylish, and acclaimed restaurants: Pakpao Thai Food, El Bolero Cocina Mexicana, Merchant House, and Oak. In 2014, Restaurant Hospitality magazine named Apheleia Restaurant Group (ARG) one of the 25 Coolest Multi-Concept Companies in the nation, an industry top honor.
